This free-standing, brick residence with stone lintels, a stone foundation, and mansard roof combines the charm and character of an historic home with the modern conveniences well suited for today's lifestyle. The 3 bedroom, 2-1/2 bathroom townhome in the heart of the historic district~reported to have been home to a tavern in the 19th century~features a large, graceful wraparound porch, the perfect spot for relaxing in a rocking chair with a cold beverage. The home's sunny first floor features an updated and spacious eat-in kitchen with granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and gas range. Adjacent to the kitchen is the home's large living room (which could also serve as a formal dining room) complete with elegant moldings, vintage pendant lighting, and easy access to the breathtaking garden. A spacious coat closet and recently renovated powder room are also located on the first floor. Ascending the staircase to the second floor you'll find yourself in the home's library. This cozy space with a wood-burning fireplace and recessed lighting features wall-to-wall built-ins to house your most cherished items. One of the three bedrooms is located on this second level, and features an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The impressive master bedroom, with its custom closets, vaulted ceiling, and exposed wood beams, is located on the third floor of the home. A Jack-and-Jill bathroom, beautifully renovated in 2017, features granite counters, glass tile, and a tub/shower combination. Also conveniently located on this level is the home's laundry facility as well as the bright third bedroom with custom closets. The home also features a partially finished lower level, a spacious area well suited to a home gym, home theater, or to accommodate all your storage needs. Stairs from the basement lead to the fenced garden, a serene space for grilling, relaxing, and dining. It is a private retreat complete with a custom flagstone patio, raised beds, graceful trees, mature plantings, and easy access to the home's off street parking located just beyond the garden gate. This central location is just three blocks to King Street's shopping and dining district, two blocks to S. Washington St., as well as convenient to Whole Foods, Harris Teeter, Trader Joes, Starbucks & farmers' markets. The location, while just far enough from the hustle and bustle to feel exclusively residential, is a commuter's dream: walking distance to King Street Metro, and easy access to I-95/495, Route 1, and the GW Parkway.

King Street Metro

The King Street Metro community is located at the bottom of Shooter’s Hill, between the Braddock Road Metro station and the Eisenhower Avenue Station. Until 1991, when the Blue Line was expanded to Van Dorn Street, only the Yellow Line served the community. Today, the King Street Metro community is accessible on both the Blue and Yellow Lines.

Quality of Life:

The King Street Metro community is predominantly composed of commercial office buildings and several mid to high-rise apartment complexes. There are older townhouses along Harvard and Peyton Streets, and a mix of old and new townhouses on West and Prince Streets.

King Street Metro means convenience. Without saying too much, residents in the King Street Metro community have unprecedented access to metro rail. King Street is seconds away, as well as its numerous restaurants. Take a walk down towards the heart of Old Town for a visit to The Old Town Theatre or The Lyceum. Stop by the Butcher’s Block for fresh meats and The Fromagerie for cheese. Whole Foods is right around the corner.

Getting Around:

Forgive us for repeating ourselves. From the King Street Metro community one can easily find their way to the King Street Metro station. The streets of Old Town are easily navigable by car. I-495 is less than five minutes away. Head north on the G.W. Parkway for a ten-minute drive to D.C. Two Metro stops to Reagan National Airport.

Airports:

Ronald Reagan National Airport:  < 6 miles.
Washington-Dulles International Airport:  < 30 miles.
Baltimore-Washington International Airport:  < 45 miles.
